| Keel score: 2.0 Gave all meds this morning. Premed also with Midazolam 0.18 ml IM. Anesthetized and intubated. Removed wrap and was surprised a the lack of bruising and the solidity of the whole humerus. On palpation, no mobility was felt and I also could not feel the sharp ends from the oblique fracture at all. We decided to do follow-up radiographs. The fracture looked just as well aligned as previously - the obliqueness has kept it in better alignment, not allowing the strong muscles of the humerus to misalign those bone fragments. At this point, surgery would involve totally disrupting the callous, basically rebreaking the bone, possibly introducing infection, etc. I think the bird has a better prognosis with PT every 2-3 days. The elbow ROM is a bit decreased, but it does loosen up a little with work. Allowed the bird to recover. Ok to move outside to a condo tomorrow. Will recheck next week. Dr Gardner

Dark bruising that is turning green is present along the right humerus but no swelling seemed to be present. Along the humerus there is some callus present where a fracture is begining to heal. After palpating the fracture it seems to be well aligned and midshaft. The fracture is slightly mobile but mostly stable. The wing gets full extension. Other than being skinny and the fracture, no other issues were found.
